What Should You Know About the Developing Brain
with Dr. Ken Wesson

If it is your job to develop the young mind, shouldn't you know how the developing brain works? As vast amounts of new research become available, that information can give our children a smart start emotionally, socially, and educationally.

As educators become more cognizant of the long-term impact that they have on the developing brain, questions begin to surface: "How does the human brain work? What can I do to nurture the covert process by which it operates?

All parents and future educators should be at least moderately familiar with brain science. This basic framework should especially become a prerequisite for all classroom practitioners, since applying neuro-scientific research, in many ways, will shape both the future of education and mankind. Whatever role you play in the life of the learner, it is a key role in the world's most awesome responsibility - teaching the next generation of human beings the indespensable "habits of mind" vital for thriving on the ever-changing Planet Earth. Collectively, we represent the first group of educators (and parents) in world history and immediate entrée to this astonishing information.

Dr. Ken Wesson, a longtime friend of the Kindergarten Forum, addresses parents, educators, counselors and civic groups on the neuroscience of learning. As a popular keynote speaker, Dr. Wesson has traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad.
