We are delighted to welcome Suzanne Downs to the Kindergarten Forum. She brings a unique approach to nurturing the imaginative world of the young child through puppets and storytelling. Suzanne is the Director of Juniper Tree School of Story and Puppetry Arts now based in Victoria B.C., Canada, that offers a three-year, part time training in Puppet Theater on both U.S. coasts. The training has a pedagogical, artistic, and therapeutic focus. She is on the education committee for the Puppeteers of America and is a member of the Healing Story Alliance. Traveling and teaching puppetry internationally, Suzanne is also founder and chairperson for International Puppets for Peace Day, Puppets for World Change Institute, and the Hope Puppet Project - developing meaningful puppetry for underserved children.
All children love stories and a puppet show! Join us for an exploration into
the delightful and meaningful world of storytelling and puppetry for young
children. We will look at several types of simple puppets that capture
children's imaginations, and then try our hands at puppet storytelling. We will
create a needle-felted puppet character, and develop a magical seasonal story that
will warm hearts and
help children feel that all is right with the world. You will leave this
workshop with many ideas, and a puppet story ready to share with your children!
This workshop welcomes beginners and seasoned storytellers alike!

Betty Peck, founder of the Kindergarten Forum and author of Kindergarten Education: Freeing Children's Creative Potential, has received an endorsement from Joseph Clinton Pearce, author of the Magical Child. "This is an astounding, impressive and magnificent work. Astonishing in the expansive vision it offers and scope of its material synthesized and offered with such clarity... Peck's offering could very literally save us from the suicidal path currently pursued by our (collective cultural imperative) The phrase 'this is a must reading' has been overused but surely this is must reading for every parent and would-be parent, teacher worldwide. Peck provides the grounds for a true spiritual awakening in each chidl and so in our specisa as a whole I can only praise the work and pray it will be widely read."
